Few days ago, we’ve received many good news from our students who did the American Council on Exercise (ACE) Certified Personal Trainer Exam last month in Univerisiti Putra Malaysia as the results was announced earlier. This weekend, we are having another 60 students taking up this challenge!

So lately, we spoke to a few past students who passed their ACE exam few months ago to see what they are up to and of course, to find out what is their secret of ACE-ing the exam 🙂

Joe Ang Chung Yan ACE CPT

Joe was previously a Project Manager in a NGO, who left his full time job and join certified personal trainer course to pursue his dreams. When we asked this fitness enthusiast turned trainer how he prepared for his ACE exam, he said, if you follow the following steps, you will succeed:

  1. Pay 100% attention to the fitness educators
  2. Do your reading
  3. ASK if you don’t understand
  4. Repeat 1-3 and you shall pass.

Joe is now in Taiwan doing freelance personal training. He is also writing fitness articles hoping to help beginner exercisers make lifestyle change.

Ross Owen ACE CPT

Ross used to work in the Food and Beverage industry, as a brewer (beer making) in France. After deciding that he needs to do something about his lifestyle, he lost 22kg  – from 96kg to 74kg in a year plus. Ross does a lot of reading on his own and said that he really enjoyed learning at FITM, and gave credits to the fitness educators. ‘Study hard and trust your instinct!’ is his advice to those who are preparing for the ACE CPT exam.

Ross is passionate about helping people achieving their fitness goals and has started his journey as a personal trainer.

Rosinah Julia ACE CPT, Group Fitness Instructor

Kak Ros has many years of experience teaching group exercise classes and then she decided to take up a new challenge – Personal Training! The BEST part is, she dragged along her 3 beautiful daughters to join the certified personal trainer course – the more the merrier!

‘I learn best through solving questions, which we have test and sample questions during class. So I learn from my mistakes and pay close attention to the fitness educators when they go through the answers.’ Despite of her busy schedule, Kak Ros makes sure she (and her girls..) attends all classes and participates actively.

“We have really good classmates and we mades some new friends so we have group studies prior to the ACE exam and the sessions were very helpful because we can learn from each other. Everyone has their own strengths and weaknesses.”

Christopher Yuen Chun Weng ACE CPT

‘We have group study after class when the exam date was approaching. We asked a lot of questions and we learn together.’ Chris joined the part-time weekend Certified Personal Trainer Course. He said he makes sure that he revise everyday, before he goes to bed. (haha..) ‘What I found that really makes a difference is, understand what we’ve learnt instead of trying to remember. And all the practical learning we have in FITM definitely helps us understand the concepts’

As soon as Chris completed the course and got his ACE certification, he left his corporate job in the property industry and is now a Personal Trainer in Fitness First. (we are so proud of you, Chris!!)

Thank you all for sharing with us! We at FITM wish you guys the very best in your future undertakings!

As for those who are taking the ACE exam this weekend, you know what to do! 🙂

Good luck peeps!
