We just had the final ACE-PT examination for 2013. But don’t worry fitness enthusiasts, we will have more to come starting next year February. Here we have 2 of our students, Maddy and Kenzie to tell us how they prepared themselves for the exam.

You guys have been with FIT for about 3 months with the ACE-PT 90 Hours Weekday intake. What do you think of the ACE-PT course?

Maddy: I think I’ve learned a lot from the ACE PT course since I came in. I am more discipline in my exercise. And all the knowledge I have now came from of course the facilitators, personal trainers and also staff here at FIT Malaysia.

Kenzie: I think anyone can benefit from this ACE-PT course. Especially trainers outside there that are still not certified yet. I learned a lot on how a trainer should conduct and why ethics are so important.

What’s the best/hardest/most fun chapter in the ACE-PT course?

Kenzie: I like the Human Anatomy and Movement chapter very much. To me everything just makes sense on how your muscle works. And it is so much fun to know a bit more about your own body.

Maddy: Well, to me that is quite the hardest chapter actually. Because you have all the terms and muscles that you need to remember. Say, what is the function of “Teres Minor”? If I didn’t take up the course I wouldn’t know that is one of the rotator cuff muscles and it is to externally rotate your shoulders. I bet most people and trainers doesn’t know that, eh?

Thanks for sharing that Maddy! I’m sure after this everyone will be Google-ing what and where is that “Teres Minor” muscle. It seems that you guys have done your homework and revision. So, will you be ready to take up personal training clients now?

Maddy: We’ll be ready. I mean like we have learned everything from how to approach a client, communication skills, exercise programming, progressions and regressions.

Kenzie: Yes, definitely! We need to start somewhere. We can always refer back to the book if we are unsure of certain things.

That’s great! I can see the eagerness in you guys to start training someone. Keep it up. Now here comes the big question. How ready are you in taking the ACE-CPT exam? How did you prepare for it?

Maddy: Honestly, I am not ready. But I am preparing for it. And also I want to say that the support group at FIT is really awesome. You have your facilitators, educators, personal trainers and staff here to help you out. They even have a Facebook page to help us with questions. And that to me makes the learning experience more fun. Not everyone can sit in the class and study the whole 3 hours.

Kenzie: Yeah I am kind of not ready too. But I am studying hard for it. FIT Malaysia have provide us with enough handouts, together with the in-house tests. I am also blessed to have such awesome classmates to help me out. We are like a family since the start of the course and we help each other out with studies. And yeah we study hard and party hard too.

Now that you have completed the course, what are you plans for the future? Where do you see yourself?

Kenzie: I want to be a fitness professional. That will help people from any age, sex, and background. I want to be there on top together with all the other great fitness professionals.

Maddy: As for me, I am really looking to train housewives. Don’t get me wrong but I got inspired from my mom. The reason why I am taking this course is to help people. I want to see how exercise intervention will help them.

I love the enthusiasm and passion there! Any last words to the people out there who wants to take the exam or even sign up for a personal trainer course?

Maddy: I think everyone would benefit from this course. You learned a lot of stuff and not just on exercise. Everything that you learned here will make you a better person/trainer and make your client better.  As for the exam, you need to study hard and understand the concept.

Kenzie: You need to attend the classes, pay attention, and not miss any class. Because once you miss a class, it’s hard to catch up. At the same time, try applying what you learned on yourself to get a better understanding.

Well, thanks Maddy and Kenzie for that interview. We at FIT Malaysia wishes you all the best in your exam and also your fitness career. Hope to see your faces on the Certified wall! All the best in your fitness career!
