In this blog we are introducing 2 different workshops that

should not be missed in January – February 2015.

Weightlifting Foundations

The Weightlifting Foundations workshop is for sports/exercise/fitness professionals and athletes to learn the fundamentals of the two Olympic lifts – the Snatch and the Clean & Jerk.

You will learn how to perform the main movements and its variations in a safe and progressive manner. With a big focus on practical drills; it will be a hands-on approach to familiarize yourself with the Olympic lifts. Understand the benefits of utilizing the lifts in you and your client’s training program to improve strength, flexibility, speed, power and coordination. This course will give you the stepping stones to coach athlete and improve your client’s performance, at any level, in any sport!

The objectives of this workshop is to teach trainers on how to break the movements down. Trainers will know how can apply these movements into current personal training program.

Participants will be assessed during the workshop. Video assessment is available too. This workshop is suitable for individuals who has experience and ability to perform basic strength training lifts.

Jonathan (pic) is the founder and co-owner of CrossFit Malaysia, the pioneer CrossFit affiliate in Malaysia and South East Asia. He has been actively involved in the fitness industry for more than 10 years, with experience in personal training, group fitness, performance training and fitness education.


Training Clients with Health Challenges: 4 Workshops

It is undeniable that there are significant increases of population with chronic diseases in the world for the past decade. More and more of them are turning to fitness professionals to seek help in improving their fitness level, and general health, hoping to spare them from spending too much on medical bill.

Our past Personal Trainer Development Program students told FITM that more  than 80% chance they will encounter 1 or 2 de-conditioned clients at the beginning of their fitness career! Agree? The upcoming 4 workshops: Training Clients with Coronary Artery Disease, Training Clients with Diabetes Mellitus, Training Clients with Hypertension and Training Clients with Lower Back Pain are hwill help you discover how to train these special populations.

We have Dr. Kavitha Mahadevan (pic), MBBS, ACE Advanced Health & Fitness Specialist, Certified Personal Trainer, a medical practitioner in University Malaysia Medical Center (UMMC) to be the educator for these workshops. She will go deep into medical condition, explain different stages o and causes of each type of disease. Students of these workshops will understand what are the common treatments and medication clients are undergoing, things that trainers need to know prior design a safe and effective exercise program for the clients.

At the end of the workshops, trainers learn how they can modify their program and make adjustment to what they already know.
